NEW VINEYARD – The town of New Vineyard will conduct a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, in Smith Hall to discuss proposed changes to the town’s Shoreland Zoning Ordinance.

The hearing is required by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. The changes include revised boundaries of the shoreland zones within the wetland areas of the town and expansion of the resource protection zones. A map of the revised resource protection zone will also be presented at the meeting. Other changes include permitted land uses within the shoreland zone.

The town must comply with state law that requires all municipalities to adopt, administer and enforce ordinances which regulate land-use activities within 250 feet of great ponds, rivers, freshwater wetlands and within 75 feet of streams.
