LEWISTON – “Do You Cross Your Legs When You Sneeze?” will be the topic of an Accenting Your Health presentation being offered at Central Maine Medical Center on Monday, June 8, and again on Thursday, June 11.
Physical therapist Jill Cramp, a member of the CMMC Bladder Control Center staff for five years, will discuss the different types of incontinence, including stress, urge, overflow, urgency/frequency and fecal incontinence, as well as pelvic organ prolapse.
Cramp will explain what happens in pelvic floor rehabilitation, and discuss the pelvic floor’s role in breathing, back pain, posture, sexual intercourse, as well as bowel and bladder issues. Participants will learn how to do pelvic floor exercises correctly and where to seek help if more instruction is needed.
Both presentations will be offered in the Chairmen’s Rooms on the lower level of the 12 High Street Medical Office Building, adjacent to CMMC.
The June 8 program will begin at 1:30 p.m.
The June 11 presentation will begin at 6 p.m.
Those interested in attending either of the programs are urged to register in advance by calling 795-2106 or e-mailing [email protected].
These programs are being offered at no charge. Interpreter services are available upon advance request.
