AUBURN – An American Red Cross basic water rescue course will be offered at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11.

The course will provide the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies.

The course will not provide the information and skills needed to be certified as a lifeguard.

Space is limited. To register or for more information on the course or lifeguard training, stop by the YMCA at 62 Turner St. or call 795-4095.

Driver course

AUBURN – An AARP driver safety course for drivers age 50 and older will be presented from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Schooner Estates, 200 Stetson Rd.

The registration fee is $14 per person and advance registration is required.

Survivor dinner

LEWISTON – Cancer survivors from Androscoggin County are invited to attend a dinner to pre-register for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Androscoggin. The dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at The Carriage House Plus on Lisbon Street.

Each cancer survivor will receive a t-shirt, medallion and sash to wear while walking the track during the relay event which will be held Friday, June 12, at the Edward Little High School track.

There is no cost to participate. Cancer survivors should call Megan Barrett at 373-3704 to register and request a t-shirt size.

Caregivers are welcome to attend.
