GREENVILLE, S.C. – Former Cy Young winner John Smoltz is pitching in Greenville this weekend.

The Boston Red Sox announced Friday that Smoltz would continue his rehab assignment Sunday with the Class A Greenville Drive.

This game might give the veteran Smoltz a good primer to what he’ll expect when he pitches for the Red Sox. The Drive’s Fluor Field is patterned after Boston’s Fenway Park, while opponent Charleston RiverDogs are affiliated with rival New York Yankees.

This would be Smoltz’s third rehab start and his second for the Drive. Smoltz worked three scoreless innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts, for Greenville on May 20th.

Smoltz is recovering from surgery to repair a torn labrum last June.
