PARIS – A jury has been selected to hear the case of a Sumner man accused of murdering two men last summer.
Duane Christopher Waterman, 33, is charged with the shooting deaths of 50-year-old Timothy Mayberry of West Paris and 43-year-old Todd Smith of Paris in July at Mayberry’s home. Waterman has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Ten men and six women were chosen to serve on the jury. Four unknown members of the jury are alternates who will not make a decision on the case if they are not needed.
Potential jurors were given questionnaires to determine if they could be impartial at the hearing. They were also asked if they knew any of the 131 potential witnesses that might be called at the trial.
Waterman’s trial is scheduled to begin on June 8.
