AUBURN – Arthur H. Nystrom Sr., 82, a resident of 440 Minot Ave., Auburn, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, May 27, at Clover Manor.

He was born in Brockton, Mass., Feb. 4, 1927, the son of Arthur T. and Mabel A. (Wilbur) Nystrom.

Arthur started his dairy farming career in Massachusetts in 1950. He then moved to Maine in 1976, where he continued his career in dairy farming until his retirement. Hobbies included being a locksmith as well as small engine repair.

He was an avid Red Sox fan and conversations with Arthur were always about farming, carpentry and Red Sox. He also loved Bingo and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Nystrom of New York, Stephen Nystrom of North Carolina and Arthur Nystrom Jr., of Massachusetts; four daughters, Janice Brown of Oklahoma, Anne Marie Nystrom of Massachusetts, Jane Karcher of Auburn and Pamela August of Poland; three brothers, Charles Nystrom of North Carolina, Theodore Nystrom of Massachusetts and John Nystrom of Georgia; and one sister, Polly Bearse of Vermont; also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Georgianna Frost and their son, James Nystrom, both on Oct. 15, 1986.
