LEWISTON – Lewiston High School swept the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference tennis championship matches against Bangor Monday, with the boys prevailing 4-1 and the girls shutting out the Rams 5-0.

Both teams are 13-0 entering Thursday’s Eastern Class A quarterfinals.

Mike Butler, Ben McDonough and Eric Hall each won in straight sets for the Blue Devils, dropping a total of only eight games. Eric Morin and Keagan Cote also picked up a win at No. 2 doubles. Bangor’s tandem of Patrick Stewart and Alex Price topped Alex Chicoine and Jake Berube for the Rams’ only point.

Chantalle Lavertu, Emilie Cloutier and Abby Blaisdell each breezed to victory on the girls’ side. Jessica Bowen and Becca Lessard outlasted Eliza Woodcock and Mary Grace Schley, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0, while Stephanie Gagne and Michelle Nadeau prevailed in straight sets.
