AUBURN – Lois Stowell, 78, a resident of Leeds Junction Road, Wales, died Sunday, May 31, at Hospice House in Auburn, where she had been a patient since Thursday.

She was born Nov. 8, 1930, in Skowhegan, the daughter of David D. and Mary E. (Jones) Estes. She was a graduate of Kents Hill High School.

On Aug. 12, 1951, in Kents Hill, she married Clayton Stowell Sr.; he passed away in August 1995.

She was a housewife, mother and a wonderful grandmother. She did ceramics for many years and really enjoyed watching her grandchildren.

She is survived by two grandsons, Chad and Dean Stowell of Wales; and her sister, Ruth Meller of St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was predeceased by her husband Clayton; and her son, Clayton “Sonny” Stowell Jr. in January 1994.
