On May 22, St. Dominic Regional High School held its graduation. These bright and promising seniors closed one chapter in their lives and are about to embark on the next chapter; for most college, others the military or work. Soon the pages of the Sun Journal will display pictures of area seniors proudly wearing their caps and gowns with beaming parents looking on and snapping pictures to remember that proud moment and the Sun Journal will publish articles written about this special occasion.
The May 23 edition of the Sun Journal did not have pictures, or an article, or even a short blurb about St. Dom’s graduation. Instead, on the front page, there was a story about the pet snake that escaped its cage in the Greenville school system. Obviously the local paper needs to reacquaint itself with what the word “local” means.
The Sun Journal missed the boat, but the real question is does anyone there really care?
