JAY – Two men face charges in connection to liquor violations after police broke up an underage drinking party at 77 Knapp St. early Monday, Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. said in a statement.

After conducting an investigation and interviews, Jay officer Richard Caton arrested Cory M. Veilleux, 19, of Jay, on a charge of misdemeanor charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor, White said.

Caton also arrested Charles A. Haines, 21, of Jay on a misdemeanor charge of furnishing liquor to minors.

Both men are scheduled to appear on July 23 at the Farmington District Court.

Caton investigated information he had on juveniles possibly consuming liquor at the Knapp Street address.

With the assistance of Livermore Falls police officer Joe Sage and Wilton police officer Rick Billian, Caton was able to identify at least nine persons under age at the party, White said.

“Many had consumed alcohol,” he said. “Most of the young people were ages 18 to 20 years old. The liquor was confiscated as evidence.”
