BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Police officers say they tackled a man who had a loaded gun and made threats at the Bangor Mall in Maine.

Bangor police were alerted Tuesday by mall security after a man reported that 24-year-old Brian W. Murphy threatened to shoot him and shoot up the mall. Officers didn’t know Murphy was armed until he attempted to pull a handgun on officers, who wrestled the weapon from him.

Murphy, who’s from Enfield, has been charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, but could face additional charges.

He’s being held at the Penobscot County Jail on bail of $1,040. A jail official says it’s unknown whether he has a lawyer.
