STRONG – The fifth annual Sandy River Festival will take place Sunday, June 7, at the Sandy River bridge at the American Legion field.

Breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. and there will be activities during the day.

There will be kayaking and canoeing, fly fishing, an inner tube race, log rolling and a log boom run. All activities are free.

Safety and rescue personnel will be on hand and a free shuttle will bring those wishing from the Fairbanks bridge to Strong.

Living history

LIVERMORE – More than 100 Confederate and Union infantry and civilian re-enactors will participate in Civil War living history on the grounds of the Washburn Norlands Living History Center on Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7. A Sunday concert will celebrate President Lincoln’s 200th birthday and honor all veterans.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. each day. Admission is $7 for the day or $10 weekend pass; children under 6, free.

Contradance set

FARMINGTON – A contradance will be held Saturday, June 13, at Farmington Grange, Bridge Street. Easy family dances will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and sit-in musicians are welcome. Cost is $2 adults, $1 children.

Potluck snacks will be available from 7:30 to 8 p.m. followed by the regular dance. Admission is $6, minus family dance price, or $5 for students; $15, family max.

The caller will be Cynthia Phinney, the band, Green, Green and Bains. All dances are taught and called. No partner is necessary all are welcome. For more information, call 491-9928.

Noon luncheon

FARMINGTON – Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 13. The menu will include hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, coleslaw and brownies.

Delivery service will be available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week or the church kitchen at 778-4438 on the morning of the luncheon for delivery.
