BETHEL – Earle G. Shettleworth Jr., state historian and longtime director of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, will be the speaker at the second lecture in the 2009 series, “Celebrating Western Maine History,” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, in the meeting room of the Dr. Moses Mason House.

Shettleworth’s topic will be “Two Centuries of Maine Homes,” with a particular focus on western Maine.

A leading expert on Maine’s architectural history, Shettleworth will provide a survey of a variety of Maine homes over the past 200 years. The lecture is free and open to all interested.

It is being sponsored in part by a grant from the Maine Humanities Council.
