AUBURN – Gee & Bee scored a pair of victories over the weekend in Auburn Suburban Little League Major Division softball.
Kory Norcross struck out 10 on the mound for Gee & Bee and added two inside-the-park home runs and a single in an 8-2 victory Friday over Pat’s Pizza. Kailey Norcross and Dani Wyman added two singles each, while Makayla Norcross, Karli Stubbs and Alex Hunt each contributed a hit for Gee & Bee. Emily Jacques hit a double and made a great catch at first base. Kirsten Lupher clouted a triple to help secure the win.
Brittany Williams pitched a solid game for Pat’s and recorded five defensive outs on the mound. Brooke Reynolds singled to knock in a run, and Danielle Rock stole home for Pat’s second run.
Gee & Bee topped Crystal Springs on Saturday. The teams battled back-and-forth most of the game. Emily Jacques and Karli Stubbs pitched for Gee & Bee, while Tianna Harriman and Katie Duval hurled for Crystal. Makayla Norcross was 5-for-5 to lead Gee & Bee. Kory Norcross smacked an inside-the-park home run, a triple and two singles. Karli Stubbs ripped a double and three singles. Kirsten Lupher, Sam Herrick, Alex Hunt and Dani Wyman added two singles each, and Olivia Jensen chipped in three singles and a amazing catch in the outfield to save a potential grand slam.
Crystal Springs runs resulted from a triple by Tianna Harriman and singles by Hannah Farrington, Katie Novella, Kylie Breau and Katie Duval. Hannah Farrington (catcher) threw out an attempted base stealer at second.
ASLL Baseball
AUBURN – HRH topped Pepsi, 4-1, in Saturday baseball action. The teams combined for only one error.
Brian Crane started on the mound for HRH, going 5 2/3 innings before being relieved by Evan Raymond. Crane allowed only one hit. Strong defense by Cam Raymond and Brandon Knapp erased that baserunner, with Raymond’s throw from behind the plate nabbing him on the basepaths.
Zack Abisalih led Pepsi on the mound before turning over to Jarod Norcross-Plourde in the final inning. They allowed a total of five hits. Hitters for HRH were Evan Raymond with double, Cole Butler and Race Bouchard each with a hit and Brandon Knapp getting a pair of hits. Ian Mileikis had a pair of hits for Pepsi and Abisalih also had a hit. CJ Jipson dropped a nifty sacrifice bunt to produce Pepsi’s run. Strong defense was provided by Donovan Covert of Pepsi and Race Bouchard for HRH.
In a game that featured great pitching, defense and timely hitting, Pepsi defeated East Auburn, 1-0.
Ian Milekis for Pepsi and Luke Sterling for East Auburn matched pitch for pitch for five innings. Pepsi scored the only run in the first inning as Drew Lashua reached on a fielder’s choice, went to third on a Mileikis double and scored on a wild pitch.
East Auburn had a scoring opportunity in the fourth, loading the bases with one out, but Mileikis bore down to strike out the next two EA batters.
Jarod Norcross-Plourde relieved for Pepsi in the sixth to record the save. East Auburn was led offensively by Sterling and Llewellyn Jensen with two hits apiece. Pepsi had three hits, one each by Norcross-Plourde, Lashua and Mileikis. Defense was the key to the game for both teams, with Austin Cullerton for East Auburn and Noah Yarnevich for Pepsi shining in the field.
Elliot Ave.
LEWISTON – Melanson Paving took two games recently in Elliot Ave. Little League baseball. Melanson avenged its only loss of the season, defeating Mike Morin’s, 7-3. Carter Chabot and Devin Harrison led the offense for the Pavers, each with a double. Dalton Wing threw five solid innings, giving up one run for the mound win. Caleb Dostie led the offense for Mike Morin’s with a triple.
In the second game, Melanson defeated Anthoine Financial Group, 11-0. Harrison led the offense with two doubles and a triple. Chabot added a home run. Austin Wing and Jeromey Rancourt each chipped in a double, with Rancourt also adding 3 RBI. Chabot and Kyle Morin combined for the shutout. Melanson now sits at 8-1.
Oxford Hills Rec Softball
Samantha Zak went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including a three-run homer, to lead Sumner to a 21-3 verdict over Buckfield in Oxford Hills Rec little league softball.
Catcher Missy Henderson added two hits and two RBIs and McKayla Darling added two hits in support of winning pitcher Elizabeth Strout. Strout went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out two. Kylie Rowe had two hits, and Abby Campbell and Gabby Therriault each added RBI singles for Buckfield. Amber Arsenault and Kelly Charity shared the pitching duties for Buckfield.
Buckfield stormed back from an early 10-1 hole and rallied for an 11-10 farm league softball victory over Paris Red. Alexis Bennett pitched four outstanding innings of relief to earn the pitching victory for Buckfield (1-0). Kali Litchfield led the offense with two hits and two runs scored. Kaylee Harvey also added two hits and a run scored in the win. Jayden and Marie led the offense for Paris Red with two hits apiece.
Both teams turned in several fine defensive plays.
In other local action, Mechanic Falls scored two runs in the final inning to top the Poland Angels, 10-8, in a farm league tilt. Chrystal Barfield and Jayla Monaghan pitched for Mechanic Falls. Ainsley Bryant had three hits.
Jordan May and Gabrielle Golding delivered two hits each for McFalls (1-1).
