LEWISTON – A local man who admitted he robbed a Dunkin’ Donuts in October was ordered Thursday to spend 18 months in prison.

Joshua D. Caron, 21, of 37-8 Tall Pines Drive, was sentenced to six years in prison with all but 18 months suspended. He was also ordered to spend four years on probation and to perform 200 hours of community service upon his release.

Police say in late October, Caron held up the Dunkin’ Donuts at 590 Main St. and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A Dunkin’ Donuts employee reported the robbery in the early evening. Police said a tall, thin man wearing a mask and dark sunglasses had brandished a weapon and demanded money. Moments later, he fled on foot.

Police found Caron a short time later in the area of Tall Pines, not far from his home. However, the clothes he was wearing did not match those seen on the suspect shown in footage from a surveillance camera, police said.

Investigators later learned that Caron had gone home and changed shortly after robbing the doughnut shop. He was arrested and later pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery.
