It’s funny how people seem to think that stimulus bills and bailouts are going to save the economy. I can’t figure out why people think that is free money. Do they really think that taxpayers won’t have to pay that back? Do they really think that all this fake money being pumped into the banks, GM, and the states just comes out of this pot of money somewhere in Washington?
I’m beginning to think that a lot of people are more clueless than I thought, and the president is on the top of the list.
I hear the great Sens. Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and the rest of the money grabbers constantly telling the public how all this spending is going to help the economy, and that soon things will be all better. They never tell us, however, where this money is coming from or how much money Washington is printing trying to stay ahead of this so-called stimulus.
General Motors, the banks and all the rest should have been left to go down the tubes and let the free market take its course. Government, more precisely the Federal Reserve’s interference, is the main cause of the nation’s economic woes.
The $3 trillion-plus bill that the president has made will come due, and taxpayers will be left to foot the bill.
We haven’t seen anything yet, as to what is coming sometime in the near future. That I will all but guarantee.
Paul Lowell, Rumford
