Shelter plans puppy shower
LEWISTON – The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society invites the community to a Puppy Shower on Saturday, June 6, to celebrate the arrival of Isabelle’s puppies.
More puppies are being brought to the shelter since they recently launched a new program in an effort to have more puppies available for adoption. Individuals who bring in their litters can have the mother spayed and vaccinated for free. The shelter in turn sterilizes, vaccinates and places the puppies into loving homes.
To help care for the babies, they invite you to participate in the shower and help them prepare for the newborns. Donations such as dry and canned puppy food, small collars, puppy shampoo and puppy toys are just a few of the many supplies needed to help with the upcoming arrivals.
The society provides a safe haven for more than 5,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area each year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of citizens.
The society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave. For more information on the shower, items needed for the young animals, the dogs and any puppies currently available for adoption, call the shelter at 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org.
