Answer: Sun Spots was unable to locate a vendor for butter paper. We contacted Gloria at the Nezinscot Farm in Turner who recommended a store such as Paris Farmers Union, who also noted that they have been unsuccessful locating a vendor in the United States that sells butter paper. Dear Sun Spots: Are your readers interested in doing something valuable and fun with your summer? Why not volunteer at Camp Middle Jubba? Camp Middle Jubba is a summer camp for Somali Bantu children from grades four to six. It will run weekdays from July 6 to July 31 from 8 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The camp will meet at the Martel Elementary School in Lewiston.

We are looking for enthusiastic high school or college-age volunteers or other passionate folk of any age seeking a fun summer camp experience. Volunteers may work as much or as little as they choose.

In addition to volunteer positions, we also have some positions that will offer stipends. These would carry more responsibility and require a more steady commitment.

The Somali Bantu Community Mutual Assistance Association has organized the camp with the help of some Bates students supervised by anthropology chairwoman and professor Elizabeth Eames. Many members of the Somali Bantu community will be involved, including the president of the association, Mohamed Farah, community spokesman Sheikh Mohamed and many parents of the campers.

The camp will focus on adjustment to life in Maine especially, school institutions, including homework help as well as playground time. Field trips appropriate for this age group will be held twice a week. Come and learn more about your new neighbors.
