Easily learned
This is in response to a recent story about complaints from some parents in the Somali community about how their children are taught English. I lived in the Middle East to attend school. In five months, I was fluent in the language being spoken there.
When you have the language spoken around you, in the stores and on the media, learning a new language is really very easy.
I cannot understand why it is taking years for the Somali community to learn English. It is the national language and in use all around them. A normal person can pick up a new language easily, especially a child.
