PARIS – The Board of Selectmen unanimously appointed a new code enforcement officer Monday for one year.
Gerald Sampson of Buckfield was offered the job after Town Manager Sharon Jackson and assessor John Brushwein interviewed him and two other candidates. Sampson will take over for Claude Rounds, who had served as code enforcement officer since November 2005.
Sampson formerly served as a code enforcement officer and assessor in Lisbon and has 15 years of experience in the field. He will begin serving in the position June 10 and work 24 hours a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Rounds will become a lead program manager in Lewiston and Auburn. Jackson said the position is for three years and paid for with a grant. The job is to inspect buildings for lead content.
Selectmen also appointed Brushwein as alternate code enforcement officer, which will allow him to fill in when Sampson is absent. Brushwein is serving as code enforcement officer until Sampson’s appointment begins.
