NEW GLOUCESTER — A 16-year-old boy killed Tuesday in a vehicle crash on Route 100 was identified by police as Joshua Libby of Gray.
Libby was a student at Gray-New Gloucester High School. He was a passenger in a SUV that collided with a van at the intersection of Bennett Road mid-afternoon. A second passenger, 20-year-old Travis Dunn, also of Gray, was injured in the crash and taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The driver of the SUV, 18-year-old Benjamin Farynaz of Gray also was taken to CMMC along with the driver of the the van, Melvin Durland of New Portland.
Police said the SUV did not stop at the intersection and was struck by the van. Maine State Police troopers found alcohol in the SUV and are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, police said in a written release.
