AUGUSTA (AP) – Steven Rowe, a former attorney general and speaker of the Maine House, has filed papers for a 2010 run for governor.
Rowe said he registered his candidacy Tuesday with the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices. He said a formal announcement and campaign kickoff will be held at a later date.
After four terms in the House, including one as speaker, the 56-year-old Democrat served as attorney general from 2001 to 2008. A graduate of West Point and the University of Maine School of Law, he worked for 15 years in the semiconductor and insurance industries. He is now with a Portland law firm.
