Youngster has cut for Wigs for Kids
WILTON – Amid smiles and a few nerves, Abigail “Abi” Adams, 4, had her waist-length hair (over 12 inches) cut to donate to Wigs for Kids on May 28. Tanya Rowe at Wilton Hair Lounge provided the cut and “new look” hair styling services.
Wigs for Kids is a nonprofit organization that provides wigs for children who have suffered hair loss due to chemotherapy, radiation treatments, alopecia, burns or other medical circumstances.
The custom-made wigs are provided free to the children; however, the wigs cost from $1,800 to $3,000 to produce.
Abi is asking anyone who would like to help her support these children, to do so with a tax-deductible contribution. Donations can be sent to Abi Adams, P.O. Box 150, Farmington Falls, ME 04940 or online at Wigs for Kids.
“This was my first big haircut. I want to help sick kids who don’t have any hair,” she said. When asked if she would do it again, Abi said, “I want to grow out my hair and donate it 30 times.”
“She has been anxiously waiting for this day for the last year – when her hair was finally long enough to donate,” said her mother. Abi is the daughter of Courtney Woolf of Farmington Falls and Alexander Adams of South Berwick.
