Auction planned
FARMINGTON – An auction will be held Sunday, June 14, at Philbrick Field, Farmington Falls.
Viewing will start at 11 a.m. with the auction starting at noon, rain or shine under the field house canopy.
Items will include books, tools, household items, furniture, crafts, water cooler, mini-fridge, bread maker, cloth, filing cabinets, shower stall.
Proceeds will benefit Farmington Falls youth activities. For more information or to donate items, call 778-6221.
Historian to speak
TEMPLE – Jay Hoar, Temple author and historian, will be the speaker at a Temple Historical Society meeting on Tuesday, June 16, at the Temple Town Hall.
Hoar will talk about the subject of his latest book, “Our Eldest and Last Civil War Nurses.” After the publication, he learned of one last nurse who lived to be age 107. He will share his experiences of the search and discovery of the Civil War nurses and talk about their lives.

Barbecue, car wash
LIVERMORE FALLS – The Sports Boosters will host a barbecue and the Livermore Falls Varsity “L” Club plan a car wash on Saturday, June 12, at the Livermore Falls High School football field.
The event will include a raffle for Red Sox and Sea Dog baseball tickets. All proceeds will go for new bleachers at the school.
Vacation school
JAY – “SonRock Kids Camp” will be the theme of the Bean’s Corner Baptist Church annual vacation Bible school, scheduled for Monday through Friday, June 22 to 26.
Sessions, based on a camping theme, will be held daily from 9 to 11:45 a.m., with a closing program at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26.
During the week, children from age 4 through grade six will have songs, skits, crafts, games, Bible stories and snacks.

Grange meeting
WILTON – Wilson Grange 321 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the Grange, across from Shelly’s Hometown Market in East Wilton.

Society field trip
NEW VINEYARD – New Vineyard Historical Society will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the historical room, to travel to the back side of Hartwell Mountain, by way of Herrick Mountain Road, to view writings on rocks that were discovered by Charles and Sharon Huff. Bring a bag lunch and beverage for a picnic. All are invited.
