Knucklebusters gear up for auto show at Hodgman’s
NEW GLOUCESTER — Hundreds of special cars will be displayed Sunday, June 21, at the annual Knucklebusters Motor Club show at Hodgman’s Frozen Custard on Route 202.
It’s a rain-or-shine event that has taken place over the past 15 years. In several of those years, more than 200 vehicles were on display in the large field behind the popular snack stand.
Registration for entrants is from 8 to 11 a.m. There’s a fee of $5 to show a vehicle, but there is no charge for spectators. The event welcomes all kinds of auto hobby enthusiasts. Besides restored and customized classic cars, there will be antique autos, street rods, muscle cars and newer vehicles that may be there to show custom sound system installations or other special features added by owners.
Trophies will be awarded in 24 classifications with prizes divided among three classes: General Motors, Ford and Mopar (Chrysler). A cash prize will also go to the Best-of-Show winner.
Voting closes at noon, but vehicles are on display through the day.
Music will be provided by DJ Shades (Ben Santos).
This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Murray Lothrop of Auburn, a founding member of the Knucklebusters organization, which has a membership throughout Maine and northern New England.
The Knucklebusters Motor Club is a nonprofit organization and proceeds from shows are donated to charitable causes. This year’s event will benefit the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. For more information, call 353-5740.
