NEW GLOUCESTER – Joshua Kendell Libby, 16, of Yarmouth Road, Gray, passed away Tuesday, June 9, in a tragic automobile accident in New Gloucester.

He was born Dec. 13, 1992, in Portland, to Kendell J. Libby and Anne L. Thoits-Libby. He attended St. Joseph’s in Portland for eight years and was a sophomore at Gray-New Gloucester High School.

He was employed at Jess N’ Nic’s and also as a camp counselor for the town of Gray. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post 86.

Joshua was a very outgoing young man with many, many friends of all ages. He was very involved in sports, having played on the varsity basketball and golf teams at G-NG. He had loved his four years on the little lad football team in Portland.

Joshua loved to fish. Biking, boating, swimming at the lake, hanging out with friends and playing with his family dog “Hunter” were among the pleasures he very much enjoyed. Joshua loved to sing. He knew every word to every song.

Joshua leaves behind his dearly beloved sister, Amanda Elizabeth Libby; grandparents, Sandra and Robert Donnelly of Windham and Florida, and John D. Thoits of Gray; great-grandmother, Laura Lane; great-aunt, Helen Frye of Raymond; uncles and aunts, Steven and Lee-Anne Dahms, Brenda and Stephen Leo, David Thoits, Pam Moreau, Shawn Thoits, Paul and Melissa Thoits and Ryan and Bethany Thoits; and cousins, Clara, Dakota, Hayden, Kari, Andrew, Jeremy, Jenalee, Liana, Jason, Travis, Joel, Nicholas, Christopher, Kayla, Jonathan, Abigail and Baily.

Together Kendell and Lynelle had made a safe warm and loving home for Josh, Amanda, Lindsay, Jaclyn and Bobcat.

Joshua was predeceased by grandparents, Gloria and Jimmy Dahms and Frederick A. Libby.
