Region 9 loggers take contest awards

OXFORD – The 2009 annual high school loggers’ competition was hosted by Region 11 at the Oxford County Fairgrounds recently.

Of the 15 events held, Region 9 placed first, second or third in 12. Five schools participated.

Thursday: third, axe throw, James Anderson, Tyler Gallant, Travis Blanchard; second, dot split, Zach McPhee, James Anderson; third, pulp throw for distance, Jared Bisson, Mitch Lemay, James Cote; third, pulp throw for accuracy, Chad Calden, Chris Arsenault, Cody Magoon, James Cote; second, skidder competition, Chris Arsenault, Barry Gallant.

Also, second, loader competition, Mick Kelly, Chad Calden; second, cookie cut, Andrew Dyment; second, precision bucking, Frank Christie; second, crosscut, Zach McPhee, Kody Whittimore, Cody Magoon, Darren Jodrey.
