CHICAGO (AP) – A man convicted of fatally stabbing his boss because of a bad job review has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
Cook County circuit Judge Jorge Alonso also gave 37-year-old Tom Tuduj a consecutive sentence of five years for disarming a police officer at the time of his arrest.
Tuduj, of Harwood Heights, Ill., was convicted of first-degree murder in the death of Gary Poter, president and CEO of Poter Construction and Development. Tuduj, an appraiser and bidder for the company, struggled with the 48-year-old Poter, then stabbed him to death with a kitchen knife at his office near O’Hare International Airport.
Before sentencing, Tuduj rambled on for a half hour, apologizing to Poter’s family while blaming a toxic combination of medicine for the murder.
