WINDHAM (AP) – The longest portion of the Windham, Maine, Town Meeting on Saturday was the color guard doing its duty.

It took all of 10 minutes to carry the flags in and out AND for residents to approve a $13.8 million budget.

The town’s communications coordinator, Jim Webb, says it was the shortest Town Meeting ever, with 44 of the town’s 17,000 residents combining various budget questions into one vote, then approving it, unanimously.

He said the budget was 4.3 percent lower than last year and that residents knew it couldn’t be cut anymore.
