CONCORD, N.H. (AP) – A 15-person rescue team carried an injured Maine hiker off of Mt. Lafayette in Franconia Notch State Park.

Thirty-one-year-old Heather Klenow of Portland, was hiking the popular 9-mile Franconia Range Loop, having gone up the Falling Waters Trail, then north across the ridge to Mt. Lafayette, and was then descending on the Old Bridle Path. On Saturday afternoon, she suffered a knee injury and a passing hiker called for help on a cell phone.

Rescue crews responded and carried Klenow the remaining 2 miles down the trail, arriving at the trailhead Saturday night.

The team was made of New Hampshire Fish and Game Department officers and volunteers from the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team.
