FREEPORT – The Durham-Freeport-Pownal school system will hold its first budget meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Freeport High School.

Directors will present a $22,777,795 operating budget to residents for discussion and a vote. Only registered voters can participate in the decision-making. Election officials from each town will be present for verification.

The operating budget is laid out in 11 articles, which can be amended.

Beyond the operating budget is $620,207 in stimulus money and $83,000 for adult education.

The final budget vote will be at a referendum June 25 in all three towns.
