TURNER – Kodi Barrett, a junior at Leavitt Area High School, is the recipient of a summer scholarship to the New England Institute of Art.

Each year, the institution offers an opportunity to high school juniors who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of art.

It is a five-day long experience with all expenses paid. Students will live on sight (in Boston), go on field trips and create art.

Barrett received the scholarship during a surprise presentation in the AP 2-D Design class at Leavitt. Jen Rogers, a representative from The New England Institute of Art, presented the award. She spoke of Barrett’s passion and enthusiasm for art as one of the reasons why he stood out from all the other applicants.
