AUBURN – The Maine Right to Life Committee has announced the institution of the annual Patricia DeGrinney Life Award for meritorious service on behalf of the most vulnerable and needy among us.

The award is being instituted in honor of a founding member of pro-life Maine, Patricia DeGrinney, who died unexpectedly earlier this year. DeGrinney worked for more than 30 years to educate women and men concerning the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. She spearheaded many pro-life programs throughout Maine.

The award will be presented to a Maine citizen aged 12 to 100 years old who has demonstrated compassion, leadership and service for Maine’s unborn babies, their moms, and/or the elderly/handicapped.

Nominations will be accepted by U.S. mail, and must include biographical information concerning the nominee and reasons the nominee is a worthy recipient of the award.

The recipient will be announced at the Maine Right to Life Committee Annual Convention to be held on Saturday, October 17, in Portland. Nominations are due by Monday, August 31, and should be sent to Teresa Tumidajski, Maine Right to Life Committee, P.O. Box 257, Auburn, ME 04212-0257.
