New Balance employees help Community Concepts

OXFORD – Employees from the New Balance athletic shoe plant in Norway volunteered for a day to help four local families build their new homes. Thirteen New Balance volunteers joined Community Concepts staff on June 13 to help put siding up on the four homes in Oxford.

“The New Balance employees are great workers who made a huge difference for these four families,” said Dana Stevens, director of the Community Concepts housing programs.

“Community Concepts is fortunate that these New Balance employees gave up a beautiful Saturday with their own families to help these self-help families get one step closer to finishing their homes. It’s a wonderful community gift. Both New Balance and Community Concepts are looking forward to expanding this community day in the future,” said Stevens.

Community Concepts, the only USDA self-help housing construction program in New England, is helping 18 Maine families in five counties. In addition to Oxford, the program is working with families in Auburn, Greene, Leeds, Litchfield, Sebago, South Paris, Wilton and Windsor.
