Ray Bell cultivates rows of potatoes on a 100-acre piece of farmland in Durham on Wednesday. Bell, a third-generation farmer who owns Bell Farms Inc., said his potatoes and sweet corn are about 10 days ahead of schedule because of the generous amount of rain that has fallen this spring. Corn will be ready to eat the first of August and potatoes will be harvested at the end of September, he said. Bell has farmland in Auburn and Lewiston, as well as in Durham.
