HARRISON – The Harrison Old Home Days 2009 Grand Parade will take place at noon Saturday, July 11, and people are invited to design a float to represent a organization, business or group. Theme of Harrison Old Home Days is “Cruisin.” Write to P.O. Box 352, Harrison, ME 04040.

Scholarship sale

OTISFIELD – A Flamingos and Fleas Scholarship Sale will benefit the scholarship fund of the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at the Otisfield Community Center, Route 121.

All monies raised will be added to the scholarship fund which gives awards to area students each year.

The sale will offer a wide assortment of articles, food and beverages. For more information, call Deb at 539-4619 or Vicky at 627-7133.

Pancake breakfast

WINDHAM – The Lake Region Shrine Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Gilbert’s Chowder House, Route 35, North Windham. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under.

Garden questions

PARIS – The University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Oxford County is offering a hands-on opportunity to get gardening questions answered in two July sessions.

A meeting will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Extension office gardens in South Paris.

The second session will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the Community Gardens next to Hosmer Field in Rumford.

There is no fee for the workshops, but preregistration is required by calling 743-6329 or 1-800-287-1482.

Given flags

PARIS – Foreign exchange students at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School are honored at the end of each school year during senior assembly and are given an American flag as they leave the school and the United States.

Veterans service organizations in the area offer support to continue the tradition. This year Anderson-Staples Post 112, American Legion, Oxford, did the honors.
