AUBURN – A celebration of life service was held Saturday morning for Dennis Sweetser at Court Street Baptist Church. The Rev. David Clark officiated at the service and was assisted by the Rev. Dr. Charles Bray and by the Rev. Dr. Foster Williams, both of whom are close family friends and former pastors of Court Street Baptist Church. Music was provided by Kathy Haley, Marge Perkins and the church choir. Soloist was Shawna Haley. Musical selections included “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” “You Raise Me Up,” and “Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory.”

Words of remembrance were given by all three pastors and written tributes from family members were read by the Rev. Clark.

Following the service, a procession of vehicles to the cemetery included a brief stop at the Auburn Suburban Little League complex. The procession was received by many, many league teams, players, parents, coaches and others who lined up to pay tribute to and honor Mr. Sweetser’s 42 years of active involvement with ASLL. The Rev. Clark recited committal prayers at Mt. Auburn Cemetery where interment followed in the family lot. Traffic assistance for the vehicle procession to the cemetery was provided by the Auburn Police Department.

Pallbearers were Derek Galway, Steve Galway, Geoffrey Kirk, Robert Libby, Tom Libby, James McKinnell, Dale Stone and James Upham.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fortin Group/Plummer & Merrill Funeral Home, Cremation and Monument Services of Auburn.
