DIXFIELD – Neighborly Senior Citizens met on June 17 at the Dixfield Legion with 42 present. The meeting was called to order by President Connie Tutlis, who read several selections followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “God Bless America.”
Tutlis also read a history of “Taps.” She gave a report on nickel beano and the beano kitchen, both of which are fundraisers for the group.
Neighborly Seniors will observe their 40th anniversary in October and have never received any funds from area towns. The group has been run entirely with volunteer help. Nickel beano is held on the first Wednesday of each month, with doors opening at 12:30 p.m. and beano starting at 1. All are welcome.
There is still room on the bus to the TRIAD picnic in Fryeburg on Friday, June 26. The trip is free to all members. There is still space on the July 17 Cabbage Island trip. The cost is $79 a person. For more information,call Connie at 364-4189.
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, July 15. Members are asked to bring items for a Chinese auction..
Observing June birthdays were Larry Kerr and Edna Kerr. Observing July anniversaries were Leland and June Merchant, 62 years, and Timothy and Brenda Calden, 33 years.
