Chickens, toads and sneakers

Vacationing chickens, traveling toads, an alligator in an elevator and sneakers that run by themselves — these are all in childrens entertainer Rick Charette’s repertoire. The popular songwriter/musician will bring his blend of contemporary pop music and original lyrics to Harrison on July 1 as the kickoff for Deertrees Theatre’s Children’s Wednesdays program. Throughout the year, Charette travels the United States and Canada, performing at schools and concert halls. Elementary teachers across the country use his music in their classrooms to enhance their language arts programs. His Deertrees performances, scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., are geared to children ages 3 through 10 and last about one hour. Tickets are $4 for children, $5 for adults; they are available through the Deertrees box office at 583-6747 and online at www.deertreestheatre.org.
