Dear Sun Spots: Do you or your readers know of any organization that is collecting magazines to send to our troops. We have several boxes of recent car magazines (“Hot Rod,” “Car Craft,” street rod magazines, etc.) that we would like to donate this or another worthy cause. Please contact me at 524-2253 to arrange for pickup or I could deliver to the Lewiston-Auburn area. — Brenda, Leeds.
Dear Sun Spots: You had a request for an inexpensive snack for children and this is one I make for my family. If you use the store brand of cereal, you save more.
Puppy Chow
Melt one stick of oleo, l cup of peanut butter and l cup of chocolate bits.
In a large bowl put l box of hexagon cereal or any other that you like (Chex, Cheerios, etc.). Pour melted ingredients over the cereal, using forks so the cereal doesn’t crush. In a large plastic bag put ½ box, or about 3 cups, of confectioner’s sugar. Put some of the cereal in the bag and turn it gently until the cereal is covered. Repeat until all cereal is covered. Spread on cookie sheets to dry. This makes a lot and you can add nuts, pretzels, etc. to it. — No Name, No Town.
