William E. Immonen
1922 – 2009
AUBURN — William E. Immonen, 86, of South Paris, passed into the presence of his Lord very peacefully on Sunday, July 5 at the Hospice House.
He was born in Sumner, Dec. 6, 1922, the son of Jack and Olga Idstrom Immonen. He attended schools in Sumner and Newport, N.H. He kept the family farm going and was a woodsman. He was also employed at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co.
He was a member of the Mission Congregational Church in West Paris and the Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine. He was a charter member of the Paris Cape Historical Society. He was treasurer of the Finnish Cemetery Association for 50 years, as well as being very active in the maintenance of the cemetery. He enjoyed reading, and traveling with his wife to historic places. He married Cynthia Floyd on May 9, 1970.
He is survived by his wife of South Paris; a brother, Alvar of South Paris; a nephew, Jeffrey Immonen of Raymond; grandniece and grandnephew, Jared and Sarah; and his god-daughter, Marisa Lane.
