Ernest Garcia shows how to build a loop in preparation for a roping demonstration which will be among the free activities offered Eqine Demo Day with the Ellis River Riders set for Saturday, July 11. The event at the show grounds on Airport Road in Andover is an opportunity to learn about horse dentistry, distance competitive trail-riding, search and rescue and more. The event features several horse breeds as well as the ever-popular roping demonstrations with the cowboys Ernest and Dean. Vendors, kids’ games, pony rides and face-painting will also be offered. Parking, food and spectator seating are available. The day starts at 10 a.m. and will continue into the afternoon. At 6 p.m., there will be a public chicken and pulled pork barbecue, including salad, strawberry shortcake and frosted brownies. Tickets for the barbecue are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 5 to 12; children under 5 eat free.
