AUBURN – Chris Willer walloped a walkoff triple to give Meineke Muffler a 3-2, eight-inning victory over REMAX in Auburn Players League East League softball.
REMAX scored in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game at 1-1 and send it into extra frames, then made it 2-1 in the top of the eighth. Ryan Wilson and Brad O’Connor combined for a stellar play at the plate to put an end to REMAX’s scoring for the night.
Forrest Martin started the bottom of the eighth with a walk, followed by crafty veteran Gary Chapman’s single. Willer then smacked the triple to center field to seal the deal for Meineke (5-3). John Langelier was the winning hurler. Meineke awaits its next action next against Kung Pao on Monday.
