ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — The Washington Capitals have found a possible second-line center for next season, signing free agent Brendan Morrison to a one-year, $1.5 million contract on Friday.

Morrison has played 12 NHL seasons with Dallas, Anaheim, Vancouver and New Jersey. The 33-year-old veteran split last season between the Ducks and Stars, scoring 16 goals with 15 assists in 81 games.

The Capitals have been in the market for a second-line center since the departure of Sergei Fedorov at the end of the season.
