Farmers festival

 BRIDGTON — A Farmers Market Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot
St.

There will be antique tractors, music by Ken and Laurie
Turley, $4 burger or dog lunch and flea market as well as the Farmers
Market, which will include fresh produce, baked goods, handmade crafts,
gourmet coffee, goat cheese and products and fresh lamb.

Bridge play

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library bridge group will meet at 6:30 p.m.
Monday, July 27. No partner is necessary. Beginning and experienced
players are welcome. It is an informal group where participants may
learn from each other.

Annual sale

WEST PARIS — West Paris Historical Society will hold its annual hall
lawn sale on Saturday, Aug. 1. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. and close
at 1:30 p.m.

The regular meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, July 20, at the
hall for a potluck supper, election of officers and setting up for the
Aug. 1 sale.

Summer worship

NORWAY — At the Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main St., the
congregation invites all to join for summer worship and fellowship.
During July and August, worship will be held at 9 a.m. On Sunday, July
19, special guest will be the Rev. Larry Greer, pastoral coordinator
for Hospice of Southern Maine.

Board of Deacons Chairwoman Laura Gouin will coordinate the service.
Local musicians, Kelsey Franklin and Dawson Hill, will provide special
music. Amy Shibles will dance and Greer will deliver the sermon.
Following worship, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments
in the Cummings area. The nursery will be open for infants and
preschoolers.

Magic show

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will host a magic show for kids of
all ages at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Wilkins House. The show
lasts approximately an hour, and all are welcome.

The presenter will be Dennis Labbe, who started practicing magic at the
age of 7. He has been performing the magic arts professionally for
nearly 20 years, combining magic and illusion. Admission is free, but
donations to the library will be accepted.

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will welcome residents and visitors
at an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, July 26, in conjunction
with Music Sunday at the Waterford Congregational Church and the
Waterford Historical Society art exhibit. Light refreshments will be
available. Guests will have an opportunity to learn about the library
and explore its collection and services.

The library is a colonial revival style building designed by
Portland architect John Calvin Stevens and his son, John Howard
Stevens. The firm was also responsible for the rebuilding of the second
story after the 1937 fire. The library is part of the Waterford Flats
Historic District. 

Bridge results

NORWAY — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met July 10 in the Fare Share Building, Main Street, when a six-table Howell movement club championship was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Nancy Farmer and Pat Quinn; second, Bailey Gesslin and Nick Karamessinis; third, Pamela and Errol Libby; Flight B and C, first, Suzanne Andrews and Richard Worthington; second, Marilyn and Richard Canton; third in B, Elaine Dresser and Sue Farnum; third in C, Ruth and Charles (Ray) Tyler.
