Auburn Suburban 9&10 All-Stars Defeat Winslow LL

AUBURN — The Auburn Suburban Little League 9-10 baseball All-Stars defeated Winslow 11-10 in District 5 action on Thursday.

ASLL entered the sixth inning with a 9-5 lead, only to see Winslow battle back with 5 runs to take a 10-9 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, ASLL loaded the bases and scored the tying run on a Noah Yarnevich fielder’s choice. Matt Verrill plated the winning run on another fielder’s choice. Repeat hitters for ASLL were Cole Butler and Bobby Shelley. Verrill came on in relief to gain the victory. Also contributing on the mound for ASLL where C.J. Jipson, Jarod Plourde, Noah Yarnevich and Justin Keaney. ASLL will play Hall-Dale on Friday night.

Members of the 9&10 ASLL team are: Gavin Bates, Tyler Blanchard, Race Bouchard, Cole Butler, Jacob Dubuc, CJ Jipson, Justin Keaney, Jarod Norcross-Plourde, Bobby Shelley, Alex Thompson, Matt Verrill and Noah Yarnevich. The team is coached by Mike Keaney, Rene Plourde, Glenn Shelley and Paul Yarnevich.

 AUBURN — The 11-12 Auburn Suburban Little League All-Stars recently won two games in the Districy 5 playoffs. First they knocked off Hall-Dale 4-3 behind the strong starting pitching of Evan Raymond and the relief pitching of Llewellyn Jensen. ASLL was trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Brian Crane tied the game with a solo home run. Matt Keaney then tripled, and one out later, Jensen single him home for the eventual winning run. Jensen then shut down Hall-Dale in the top of the sixth for the victory. Crane, Jensen and Michael Hammond were repeat hitters for ASLL.

On Saturday, ASLL defeated South Lewiston 11-0 to stay alive in the playoffs. Llewellyn Jensen threw four shutout ininngs, while striking out seven. Auburn’s bats came alive with 13 hits in the victory. Bryce Gibson, Evan Raymond and Cam Raymond led the hitting attack, while Luke Sterling plaed well on defense with a couple of key defensive plays at second. Michael Wong started and pitch strong for South Lewiston. Brandon Varney and Ben Trytek were both solid on defense.

Auburn Suburban now advance to play Winslow Tuesday night at Dirigo.
