LEWISTON — Pitcher Kyle Nagel struck out seven batters, threw a four-hitter and helped his cause with a pair of doubles as Gayton rolled over Mechanic Falls with a 12-2 rout in an American Legion baseball game Thursday.

Mechanic Falls built a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Gayton (15-1) tied it up by the end of the third inning and exploded with eight runs in the fifth to take a commanding 10-2 lead.

Alex Wong shortened the game for Gayton with a two-run homer in the sixth inning. Gayton used 13 hits to subdue Mechanic Falls (3-13).

Jeff Keene, Greg Labonte, Nagel and Wong each had two hits. Will Emerson had three hits and drove in two runs. For Mechanic Falls, Nick Douglass has two hits. 

Andy Valley 7, Cole Farms 4

TURNER — Josh Tainter drove in three runs with a pair of singles and Kevin gats added a pair of doubles to lead Andy Valley to a 7-4 triumph over Cole farms of Gray on Thursday.

Andy Valley (5-11) took charge from the opening pitch, scoring four times in the first inning and two more in the second for a 6-0 advantage.

Tainter highlighted the four-run outburst in the first with a two-run single. He then knocked in Gats in the second after Gats had reached on a double.

Tainter and Willie Brown led Andy Valley’s offense with two hits apiece. One of Brown’s hits was a double.

Drew Gagnon had three of Cole Farms’ five hits, including a two-run single in the third inning.

Colin Gauthier pitched the first 4 2/3 innings for Andy Valley, while James McLamb finished up.

Chris Bryant lasted just one inning for Cole Farms, with Arthur Winship pitching the final five innings.
