Bessie Mae Trebilcock Grover

1913 – 2009

NORWAY –  Bessie Mae Trebilcock Grover, 96, a lifelong resident of Oxford, died Friday, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Oxford, June 15, 1913, the daughter of Joseph and Annie Burton Trebilcock. She graduated from Oxford High School and retired from Robinson Manufacturing after 42 years of work. Bessie enjoyed making needlework and ceramics to share with her family as well as snowmobiling, gardening and traveling. She was a proud volunteer plane spotter during World War II. On Nov. 19, 1931, she married Simon F. Grover and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1991. Simon died June 8, 1994. Bessie was a member of the Oxford County Extension, Thompson Lake Senior Citizens and the Oxford Congregational Church.

She is survived by four children, Shirley and her husband, Norman Bean, of Otisfield, Fredrick of Otisfield and Florida, JoAnn and her husband, Herbert Pulkkinen, of Oxford and Florida and Ronald of Oxford; a sister, Margaret Greenleaf of Oxford; grandchildren, Danny Roderick, Stephanie and Mark Bean of California, Hope Perkins of Tennesee, Kimberly and Jeff Harris of Ohio, Jeff Hurst of Virginia, Mike Hurst of Bethel, Corinna Jean Morse and her husband, Darren, of Harrison, Gordon Grover of Otisfield and Gloria Litchfield of South Paris; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Hazel and Grace; a brother, Fredrick; and two sons, Joseph and Robert.
