AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Portland businesswoman Rosa Scarcelli says she will be a candidate for governor in next June’s Maine Democratic Primary.

Scarcelli, the 39-year-old Wilton native who owns the Stanford Management housing firm, declared her candidacy Monday.

Steven Rowe of Portland, a former state attorney general and House speaker, is the most prominent Democrat to announce a gubernatorial candidacy.

Another declared Democratic candidate is state Rep. Dawn Hill of York, a lawyer and small business owner serving her second term in the House.
