WILTON — The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing during their Tuesday meeting on a request for a junkyard permit. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the town office.

A Route 2 lot owned by Kimball Farrington of Jay has a collection of machinery from factories stored on it, Code Enforcement Officer Paul Montague said earlier when the matter went before the town’s Planning Board.

Although the stored items will eventually be recycled, there’s enough stuff on the lot so that it meets the definition of junkyard, he said.

The property is located at 461 Route 2 East, adjacent to Bowering’s Collectors Delight.

In other business, Montague will also give his regular code enforcement report and the board will consider a request to hire temporary police officers to help with the Blueberry Festival.

Town Manager Rhonda Irish will give an update on the East Wilton Cemetery and the Blueberry Festival.
